Description:
Since 1934, Camp Weredale has offered a sleepaway camp program to vulnerable youth. Located on the shores of beautiful Lac de l’Achigan in Saint-Hippolyte, the camp provides exciting learning opportunities and enjoyable outdoor activities for boys and girls aged six to seventeen. The majority of our campers receive supportive social services and/or face family challenges. Camp Weredale offers these young people a safe and nurturing environment close to nature, where they can learn new skills, build long-term friendships, and develop a positive outlook on life. In this role, you will be responsible for providing campers with a well-rounded camp experience, ensuring their welfare, health, and safety, and developing and leading activity programming for designated camper groups.
You will be responsible for planning, promoting, and leading Music activities using a wide variety of materials and media. You will also support the coordination and execution of special event days, variety shows, and other camp programs that require artistic and creative leadership.
Responsible to:
One of two Assistant Directors
To participate in pre-camp training and orientation.
To play an active role in promoting a positive and constructive camp environment.
To plan and oversee all music programs during activity periods.
To ensure the safety of campers and staff when involved in music programs.
To properly maintain the Music room as well as all equipment and supplies.
To maintain an inventory of materials and to recommend and requisition equipment and supplies as needed.
To oversee the set-up, operation and maintenance of the music room.
To promote literacy activities at camp.
To support performance in activities (drama, talent shows, singing, costumes, props).
To support, plan, implement and participate in evening programs and large scale event days
To participate in hutline duty, waterfront tasks and night off replacement duties
To assume duties of cabin counselor on occasion, if required.
To prepare a year-end report with recommendations for the following season.
To attend all scheduled staff meetings and participate in formal and informal supervision.
To respect all camp policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.
To perform all other related tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
Must have completed Secondary 5 and preferably one year of college.
Prior experience or study in a related field would be considered an asset.
Must be outgoing, enthusiastic and passionate about the arts.
Must have the ability to organize and teach musical activities.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must have the ability to relate to children
Must be comfortable in, and respectful of, a group living environment.
Must be punctual and capable of respecting a camp preset schedule.
Must be capable of respecting confidentially regarding camper medical, behavioural issues and family history.

Employment Status:
Summer, full-time, day, evening, weekend. Transportation, lodging, and food are included at Camp Weredale during the stay.
